Our Whelan family left Toonagh, near Clooney, County Clare Ireland for Melbourne Australia in 1849, with some Whelans settling in Otago New Zealand.
The Whelan name was sometimes spelt as Whalan, Whalon, and Whealon.
So far we are not aware of any connections of this Whelan family having gone to United States, Canada, or other countries.
