Thomas James Whelan b.1857

Thomas, in common with the next eight Whelan children, was born in Melbourne. Thomas became a carrier, possibly working with his father. He did not marry and he also died at the early age of 30 years at Rathdowne Street, Carlton. He had also suffered lung problems – ‘Phthisis Pulmonalis’ - for the 12 months prior to his death, on 7 December 1886. His father John, was the informant of his death certificate, and Thomas also rests in the family grave.
