Sissie Whelan, the youngest daughter of Michael and Honora Whelan, was born at Wetherstons and no doubt spent her childhood years in that little community.
On 8 February 1899, Sissie married William Alfred Weaver at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Hastings, in Hawkes Bay.
William was an engineer, and the couple set up home in Hastings. Sadly William developed tuberculosis and died in 1920 at the early age of 47 years.
On 28 December 1922, Sissie remarried, at All Saints Church, Taradale, Napier, to John H. Williams a farmer, and like Sissie, a widower.
Sissie Williams passed away at Stratford, Taranaki, on 26 December 1952.
According to her death certificate, Sissie and John had a daughter who sadly died at the age of 26.
