Maggie Whelan and Alf Cursey were married on Boxing Day 1904 in All Saints Anglican Church, Dunedin.
Alf was born c1869 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia and had come to Otago when he was about 10 years of age. His father was Daniel William Cursey and his mother was Sarah Cursey (nee Sarah Iles).
Eventually Mag and Alf went to live at 53 Driver Street, South Dunedin, since renamed as Bellona Street. Alf was quite a sporting man and at one time he owned a ‘pool-hall’ just down the road from his home by St Kilda Beach. At the side of the house Alf had built three cages. In the first cage he bred canaries. In the second cage he kept a big prize red rooster, and the third cage was the home of Uncle Alf’s greyhound.
Alf Cursey passed away on 24 April 1927.
Mag was a widow for the next 22 years. She continued to live in the family home, 53 Driver Street, South Dunedin but later moved to the Little Sisters of the Poor Retirement Home at Andersons Bay. Mag died at the age of 78 years on 3 Aug 1949.

Eileen Ruby Cursey, born c1906, became Eileen Peacock
Eileen Cursey married Robert Lynass Peacock (Bob) who made his living as a painter, and had been born on 7th February 1908. The couple made their home at 68 Moreau Street, South Dunedin. Bob was a pianist in a band that played at dances and functions all around Dunedin.
Bob Peacock died on 19th August 1974.
Eileen and Bob had three children:
Janice Alison Peacock, born 1936, became Janice Terry Morris. Sadly she died around 1964/65.
Neil Peacock, born c1942, married Donna.
Bob Peacock, born c1945, married Jennifer Fowler
